Coxsackievirus pharyngitis is a viral pharyngitis that presents with fever, painful oral lesions, and malaise. The lesions are commonly seen in the posterior oropharynx including the soft palate, uvula, tonsils, and are gingival sparing. These findings are different compared to herpetic gingivostomatitis, which usually involves the anterior two-thirds of the oropharynx and gingiva. This infection is self-limited, and supportive care focuses on pain control and hydration.
