Osler Nodes

Osler nodes are subcutaneous nodules found on the pads of the fingers and toes. They are erythematous to violaceous in color and are often painful with tenderness on examination. These transient nodes are the result of immune complex deposition within the pulp of the finger leading to microabscesses and vasculitis and may be raised on exam. While most often associated with acute infective endocarditis, similar cutaneous manifestations can be seen in bacteremia and other vasculitides as well.
